It is my pleasure to announce that the 1st Greater Bay Emergency Medicine Conference & 8th Hong Kong Shenzhen Emergency Medicine Conference will be held on 25th & 26th May 2024 at Hong Kong Science Park.

The Hong Kong Shenzhen Emergency Medicine Conference is a biennial event first held in 2008. Over the past 16 years, the conference offered the opportunity for healthcare professionals from both regions to share the most up-to-date knowledge in emergency medicine, network with peers, as well as foster the ground for tight connection between the two localities.

Though the conference was halted temporarily due to the COVID-19 pandemic, the connection with our neighbourhood was not lost. With the resumption of the conference, we expand the participating regions to cover other areas in the Greater Bay Area. Apart from our long-standing partner, we have support from Guangzhou, Zhuhai and Macau this year, which gives the conference its name the 1st Greater Bay Area Emergency Medicine Conferences. The theme of the conference this year is ‘Join Hands for Regional EM Collaboration’. We have distinguished speakers from the Greater Bay Area, and leading EM experts from the mainland and overseas. The program comprehensively covers salient EM topics such as trauma, critical care medicine, nursing care, pre-hospital medicine such as aeromedical transfer, and even traditional Chinese medicine care.

We hope the conference can offer a sustainable platform for well-experienced EM experts in the Greater Bay Area to meet together and collaborate in developing better EM care in the locality. The roundtable tract offers leading experts from the Greater Bay Area to have a visionary discussion on the future direction of collaboration in the area. The interactive tracts, PoCUS Olympics and Toxicology Quiz aim to offer our young EM doctors an enjoyable learning experience instead of traditional knowledge teaching. The workshop on research and appraisal explains the workflow and criteria of journal article submission and appraisal to inspire the interest of local EM doctors in research. The development of research studies paves the way for the future development of the specialty.
